Gnistan moved level on points with neighbours HJK by beating AC Oulu and ending a run of successive draws, leaving the home side six points adrift of the final European place as their form continues to desert them.
Saku Ylatupa's deflected cross from the left put the visitors ahead with the hour mark approaching, and though Julius Paanenen struck Oulu level 15 minutes from time and just four minutes after coming on, Gnistan won themselves a penalty with eight minutes to go, and Roman Eremenko stepped up to take all three points as the Helsinki side go unbeaten in six. For Oulu it's now just one win in their last six.
For the first time since the seventh round of the season, Mariehamn are not bottom of the table as their great-escape attempt got back on track with a win at home to TPS. Teenager Arvid Bergvik was on hand to tap in his first league goal in the seventh minute after the goalkeeper flapped at a low cross, and that was all the hosts needed to register their fourth win of the season - and fourth in five matches after losing to Lahti last time out. TPS are winless in four but are safe and have nothing to play for.
Mariehamn have climbed to 11th and gone a point clear of Jaro, despite the Jakobstad side finally ending their six-game losing run against SJK, who drew for a third match in a row, meaning they sit four points above the drop. Ville Vuorinen put Jaro in front in the first half, but they were denied a rare win 20 minutes from time when Elias Mastokangas drew the away side level.
In a meeting of two sides who are already safe, Ilves won for the second week in a row and ended Lahti's three-match winning streak in the process. Nicolas Gianini Dantas' own goal had the Tampere side ahead, and though Martim Augusto drew the away side level, a penalty from Teemu Hytonen and an added-time strike from Stanislav Baranov secured the points for the Lynx.
