Carrizo, 20, joined Ajax from Velez Sarsfield for an initial €6 million fee in January, but has failed to break into the starting XI in Amsterdam. The right winger has amassed 8 total appearances for Ajax, failing to score or assist a goal.

Ajax have now sent Carrizo out on loan to FC Copenhagen on a season-long loan without an option to buy, as the Ajax management still believes the Argentine can break out in the first team.

“I am really happy that this opportunity has arisen, and I am very eager to come and give everything I have for Copenhagen. I come with lots of energy, speed and a desire to compete. I love creating chances and scoring goals, and I will do everything to help the team succeed,” Carrizo said on the club website.

The Argentina U20 international, who will wear number 7, will appear in the UEFA Conference League after Copenhagen beat Finnish side Inter Turku in the play-offs.

Manager Bo Svensson shared his excitement at adding Carrizo to the squad and highlighted the youngster's strengths.

"Maher is an extremely exciting player. He has some individual strengths that are quite unique, and that can contribute to making us more unpredictable in our attacking game. With his speed and dribbling, he can both set up his teammates for a goal, and he is also a goal threat himself. He is good 1v1, and that gives us some concrete offensive weapons that we are very excited to bring into play.”
